13 Killed in Suicide Bombings in Dagestan


Russian officers are blaming suicide bombers for twin assaults inside the Republic of Dagestan, in the North Caucasus region, killing at least 13 persons and wounded more than 100 others.

Authorities said the first blast concerned an automobile, which exploded as police approached it at a check point in Makhachkala, Dagestan's money. The second explosion occurred as emergency responders arrived about the scene of your original blast. The explosions ignited fires, which damaged a number of other vehicles.

Police have been targets of comparable assaults in Dagestan by Islamist insurgents.
